Sprint Printer Drivers for the HP LaserJet III -- 9-2-91 These drivers support all the printer's built-in fonts, in all full-point sizes, though not in all symbol sets. They're based on Borland's own drivers, with extensive modifications by Allen Brunson and Jim Celoni, S.J.. Here's a list of the files and what's in them. README.TXT -- This text file The main printer driver files: HPLJ3J.SPL -- Main LaserJet III printer driver file with the "1800 DPI lie" built in (it must be "compiled" with SP-SETUP.EXE before use) HPALLEN.TCT -- Formatter macro translations to perform many typeset-quality enhancements EXTRA.FMT -- Some optional changes to a few format definitions from Sprint's STANDARD.FMT file HPLJ-III.SPR -- Sprint test file with examples of everything this driver is capable of HPLJ-III.TXT -- Main documentation file, NOT in Sprint format, with bunches of sample at-sign commands; DON'T load it into Sprint and try to print it MAIN.SPL -- Replacement MAIN.SPL file for installation via SP-SETUP Printer driver tools: PSTWIDTH.SPR -- A sample document useful for testing the values given in Sprint printer driver PST tables LJ3JC.SPL -- Older LaserJet III printer driver without the "1800 DPI lie" but with features not in HPLJ3J.SPL (e.g. some symbol sets, landscape mode). Use as-is or use to hack HPLJ3J.SPL. Distribution on CompuServe (BorApp, Sprint library) has earlier versions of most of the files above, plus these files: HPLJ-300.SPL -- Old-fashioned 300 dpi driver for maintenance uses PSTCODES.SPR -- A chart for converting the cryptic things in a Sprint PST table to regular ASCII values Comments to: Allen Brunson, CompuServe 76676,2650 Jim Celoni, S.J., celoni@cunixf.cc.columbia.edu
